Why does an engine come to my house when I call for a medical emergency?
911 calls are received and screened by trained dispatchers to determine what type of emergency the caller is having. Once the type of emergency is determine the closest units are then dispatched. Medical emergencies that require advanced life support require additional staffing to properly treat a patient; hence 2 units are sent to the alarm.
