At the September 9, 2019, City Commission Meeting, Commissioner Ben Paris nominated Pirin Moonguaklang, owner of Golden Thai Restaurant located at 977 West State Road 434, Longwood, FL 32750, to receive the Business Person of the Month Award for September 2019.
Ms. Moonguaklang has been in the restaurant business for twenty-five years. Before opening up in Longwood, she owned a restaurant in St. Petersburg, Florida from 2000 until 2006. It was in 2006 she then moved to Longwood and opened Golden Thai Restaurant, a family-owned business.
Growing up in Thailand, as a child Pirin learned to cook from her father, who had been cooking his entire life. He cooked not only for his family but also their community. She remembers using basic ingredients that would be combined together in a way others had never tasted before. Their family recipes have been passed down for generations and are the foundation and creations of her current menu at Golden Thai.
Pirin seems to think she should give people more than expected by offering Thai Cuisine that emphasizes fresh flavor as well as an attractive presentation. Golden Thai offers vegetarian-friendly meals for those on special diets and is open for lunch and dinner.
Like her father’s giving spirit, Pirin donates food from her restaurant, as well as money, to Longwood’s Police and Fire Department. She also donates to local Seminole County Schools.
Some of her hobbies are cooking, going out to eat, watching her favorite shows, and exploring different areas with her husband. Pirin Moonguaklang says she cooks with lots of love and is not in the restaurant business to be a millionaire. Her true desire is to pass her legacy on to her children and continue spreading joy to others with her food.
The City of Longwood is truly pleased to have Owner, Pirin Moonguaklang, and Golden Thai Restaurant as part of its business community.
