At the November 6, 2023, City Commission Meeting, the Florida League of Cities presented Commissioner Brian D. Sackett with the Mayor John Land Years of Service Award. Named in honor of long-time Apopka Mayor John Land, who served his city for over 60 years, the Mayor John Land Years of Service Award honors elected municipal officials for their extensive years of dedicated public service. The focus is a city, town, or village’s legislative body members who have reached 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, or 50 years of municipal service. Recognized officials receive a framed resolution and a lapel pin that reflects their years of dedicated municipal service.
“Commissioner Brian D. Sackett has dedicated the last two decades to serving the City of Longwood and its residents as an elected official,” said Eryn Russell, League Membership Programs Specialist. “The Florida League of Cities is proud to present Commissioner Sackett with this award as he celebrates this 20-year milestone, and we thank him for his commitment to public service.”
