The proclamation presented to Pamela Redditt by the City Commission on August 21, 2023 read as follows:
WHEREAS, Pamela Redditt was born in Roanoke, VA. She and her husband, Tom, have two children, a son Jason and a daughter Courtney, and two grandchildren, Presley and Parker. They have resided in Longwood for 39 years; and
WHEREAS, Pamela Redditt and her husband own the Cottage Gift Shop and have operated the business for 28 years in the Longwood Historic District. It is a family-owned and operated business offering unique gift items; and
WHEREAS, Pamela Redditt has been a member of the Longwood Historic Society since 1995, serving as President, Vice President, and Hospitality Chair. She has served as the Chair for Christmas in Old Longwood, Valentine’s Dance, Bradlee-McIntyre House, and the Chair of Judging for the Longwood Arts and Crafts Festival. She started the “Bunko Nite” fundraiser in 2007, and it continues today. She also manages the rentals for the Historic Civic Center building; and
WHEREAS, Pamela Redditt served on the Longwood Historic Preservation Board for six years until the Board was sunsetted in 2006. She had been a South Seminole Hospital Women’s Advisory Board member for nine years and served as President; and
WHEREAS, Pamela Redditt, has been active in the community serving as Past President of a parent/teacher organization, a Seminole County Dividends School Volunteer for six years, Past President of the Ballet Orlando Guild of Winter Park, and artist/participant in the 1979 Longwood Arts and Crafts Festival. She also provided sponsorship for Longwood’s Celebrate the Season.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Tony Boni, Mayor of the City of Longwood, Florida, with the entire City Commission, City staff, and the residents of the City of Longwood, Florida, do hereby recognize Pamela Redditt as an outstanding example of a woman involved with City and community functions giving of her time, energy, and organizational skills; and do recognize her as the recipient of the City of Longwood Key to the City Award.
