March 13, 2020

The City of Longwood is supporting the State of Florida and Seminole County’s declarations of state of emergency related to the COVID-19 virus pandemic. The City has activated its Emergency Operations Center to level 2 status (essential personnel and functions). You can find additional information provided by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) about the COVID-19 virus, current situation summaries and Florida Department of Health statistics for the COVID-19 virus in the State of Florida.

The City encourages our residents and visitors to take preventative measures by following the Center for Disease Control guidelines:

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least
20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that
contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not
available.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with
unwashed hands.

Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you
cough or sneeze, then discard the tissue.

Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and
surfaces.

Avoid close contact with people who are sick. If you are
sick, stay home and practice “social distancing.”

Seminole County’s Citizens Information Hotline will be staffed beginning March 13, 2020. Seminole County Emergency Management and Florida Department of Health-Seminole personnel will be on hand to answer non-emergency questions related to COVID-19 and Seminole County’s response.

The Citizens Information Hotline will be available Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm at 407-665-0000.
