The City Attorney serves at the pleasure of the City Commission. The City Attorney is the chief legal advisor to the City Commission,
the City Administrator, all Department Heads, and all officers of the City. The
City Attorney also represents the City in all legal proceedings in which there
is no insurance coverage which would provide for this by Charter or by
ordinance.
The City Attorney is a member in good standing of the Florida Bar Association and has been admitted to practice in the State of Florida for at
least five years prior to appointment. The City Commission, however, shall have
the option of hiring an outside attorney for the purpose of representing the
City in legal matters which, in the Commission’s opinion, require an expert in a
particular field of law. |
