The Community Relations Unit frequently provides safety lectures and demonstrations to youth groups, preschools, neighborhood watch programs, and religious organizations.
The Community Relations Unit is dedicated to the goal of bringing the Community and the Longwood Police Department together to solve Community problems.
The Community Relations Unit will develop new methods of policing which will offer viable solutions, introduce new tools, and encourage the community to problem solve. The goal of Community Relations Unit is to reduce the number of repeat calls for service, by actually offering a long-term solution to the problem, thus making the community a safer and more pleasant place to reside.

AN OUNCE OF PREVENTION:
Neighborhood watch, block watch, town watch--whatever the title, this initiative is one of the most effective ways to prevent crime, attend to home and personal security, address the safety of our children and the elderly and reduce fear and isolation. Civic involvement, collaborative problem-solving and mutual commitments have helped cities and neighborhoods reduce crime by significant numbers.

Safe Kids Seminole County Coalition, in cooperation with cities in the county, provide car seat fittings for parents. If you have a car seat and would like to have it properly fitted in your car, you can attend one of the following sessions at the City of Longwood Police Department:
January 9th, February 6th, March 5th, April 2nd, May 7th, June 4th 2008 (8:30am-10:30am).
