Chapter 66 - Secondhand Goods
A garage sale is defined as a sale by a resident within the
City of Longwood, of secondhand
items belonging to said resident, which shall take place at the residential
site of the resident conducting the garage sale.
Please be advised that the following is a listing of rules
pertaining to garage sales within the Longwood City Limits:

A FREE garage sale permit must be obtained,
prior to the sale, at Longwood City
Hall, 175 West Warren
Avenue, Monday through Friday between the hours of
8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The
permit must be publicly displayed at the sale.

A garage sale will only be
authorized during daylight hours, must not last more than forty-eight (48)
hours, and may not be conducted by any resident more than once every three (3)
months.

No sale goods shall be displayed
outside the house, garage, carport, or driveway, except that which might
normally be located on the lawn or yard (such as furniture, swing set, etc.).

One (1) garage sale sign may be
placed in a yard at a residence where the sale is to be held and no more than
five (5) off-premises signs. Garage sale
signs shall not exceed a maximum of four (4) square feet. Signs may be placed after 5:00 p.m. the day
before the sale and must be removed by 8:00 a.m. following the last day of the
sale. Signs shall not be located within
any right-of-way. If signs are placed
improperly, Code Enforcement officers will remove them.

Parking shall be controlled by the
permittee so as not to be a hazard, or create any congestion on adjacent
streets.
If the sale is cancelled for any reason, the resident must
call City Hall, give reason for cancellation and if desired reschedule the
sale. If you have any questions
