Longwood Fire Department Administration Building
The administration building, formerly a medical office complex, is located just east of South Seminole Hospital at 205 S. Milwee Street. It was remodeled following acquisition by the City to meet the needs for departmental office space. The Fire Chief, Training Officer, Fire Marshall, and members of the support staff currently occupy this building.
Longwood Fire Station 15
Station 15 is located at 301 West Warren Avenue at the intersection of West Warren Avenue and Milwee Street. It was constructed in 1980 and remodeled in 1995 to meet the growing needs of the Fire Service. Strategically located on the west side of the City, this station can accommodate up to five fire personnel in private bunkrooms. Two additional rooms provide office space and sleeping quarters for the on-duty battalion chief and the station lieutenant. This station provides storage areas for various pieces of equipment as well as for all medical supplies including the oxygen cascade system and the air bottle cascade system. There is also a decontamination area for cleaning equipment.
Longwood Fire Station 17

Vehicles and Firefighter Equipment
Emergency Rescue Unit
In a continuing effort to provide quality emergency services to its citizens the City of Longwood has received a new state of the art emergency rescue unit. The unit, which was recently displayed at the International Fire Chiefs Conference in Atlanta, GA, is manufactured by Excellance Incorporated. It carries several new safety features that set it apart from the existing fleet. The interior design of the patient compartment area keeps an eye toward safety throughout, including a five point restraint system for the attendant seat that will drastically reduce the chance of motion related injuries.
Ambulances are in more accidents "per mile driven" than any other vehicle. In fact, twice as many EMS workers lose their lives on the job every year than the national average for all other workers in the United States.
To address these concerns the City insured four safety features were included in the construction of the new emergency rescue unit:
- All-aluminum construction using no wood products.
- All seams for the exterior aluminum skins are continuously and skip welded around the module's entire perimeter.
- Exterior aluminum skins are also welded to the structural framework (no glue or tape).
- The same structural members used in the body are welded to form aluminum interior cabinets for an incredibly strong, yet lightweight structure.
The result is a module providing maximum protection for both patients and attendants alike. There is also a significant cost savings due to the ease of maintenance of this modular design.
Battalion Chief's Vehicle
The Battalion Chief's vehicle is used for establishing a command post at the scene of an emergency. It carries a laptop computer, various radios, and a workstation for keeping track of all personnel and emergency vehicles. There is 1 person assigned to this vehicle.
Firefighter Equipment
Each member of the Fire/Rescue Department receives a full set of bunker gear and a personal fanny pack, which carries Personnel Protective Equipment.
