Department Director - Fran Meli

The City of Longwood Leisure Services Department provides recreational activities, special events, leagues, camps and nine parks that enhance the quality of life of the residents of Longwood.  The Department comprises three divisions:  Parks Services, Recreation Programs and the Longwood Community Building.

Ms. Fran Meli was appointed Director in October 2009.  Ms. Meli oversees recreation programs and events, the Community Building and grounds maintenance for all parks, city buildings and half of the right-of-ways. 

Prior to Ms. Meli’s appointment as Leisure Services Director, she served the City as the Recreation Manager.  She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Florida in Recreation and Parks, is a nationally certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP), and serves on various boards at the State level. 

One of Ms. Meli’s top priorities is to become a nationally recognized agency in leisure services through recognizing and implementing community needs and accreditation.  The department’s mission is to exhibit a standard of excellence and commitment to the citizens and visitors through providing parks and recreation opportunities. 

About Leisure Services

The Leisure Services Department provides the City of Longwood's residents and the surrounding populations of various ages with recreational activities, events, leagues, parks and camps that enhance the quality of living for everyone involved. Our offices are located at 174 W. Church Ave. in historic Longwood.
