Information

Mayor John C. Maingot was born in Trinidad, West Indies, and immigrated with his family to the United States in October 1985. He has been married to his wife, Beth, for thirty-three (33) years, and has six daughters and two sons. Mr. Maingot is the Owner of Island Pride Landscapes.

Mr. Maingot has served as the District 1 City Commissioner for ten (10) years, during which time he served as Mayor from 2006-2008; he was again elected Mayor in November 2009, and reelected in May 2010. In 2008, he was a finalist for the Mayor of the Year from the Florida Cities of Excellence Awards. Mr. Maingot has served on various Longwood and Seminole County Committees.

From 1985 to 1986, Mr. Maingot was a Marketing Consultant for the North American Trinidad and Tobago Board of Tourism. Prior to that, Mr. Maingot worked for over twenty-seven (27) years in the Aviation Industry in the Technical/ Marketing/Management areas with various airlines and a tour agency. He also worked as a Marketing Manager and New Product Development with Colgate Palmolive Eastern Caribbean. In 2008, several of Mr. Maingot's landscaping clients were recognized as winners in the Parade of Homes.

Mr. Maingot attended the University of Florida for IFAS Annual Licensing courses. He graduated from the University of the West Indies with a degree in Management Development and Marketing; and from the Fatima College, Port of Spain (Oxford and Cambridge).

Mr. Maingot has been very active in the community as a former Den Leader for the Boy Scouts of America, Co-Founder of both the Longwood National Night Out and Celebrate the Season, Founder of Longwood Caroling Group, and is a Member of Central Florida Society for Historical Preservation. In addition, he is involved at Church of Nativity as Lector, Lay Ministry and the Men’s Club.
