The City of
Longwood
’s 2nd Annual Police vs. Fire Charity Softball Challenge is fast approaching! This year’s theme is “We Love Our Teachers” and our efforts will be going towards classroom supplies for our local elementary schools. While we all understand that times are tight, these essential items can only be provided with the assistance of the public. Tax dollars just don’t cover everything.
The game will take place at
Candyland
Park
on August 4, 2009 at 7:00 pm and will coincide with National Night Out. Please take a moment to decide if you have a raffle item to donate or you can make a check payable to Longwood Police Explorer Post 212. All proceeds will be evenly divided between

History teaches that a lack of hurricane awareness and preparation are common threads among all major hurricane disasters. By knowing your vulnerability and what actions you should take, you can reduce the effects of a hurricane disaster.
Hurricane Season starts June 1 and lasts until November 30. For more information about hurricanes including how to prepare, shelter locations, evacuation routes, and more, please visit Prepare Seminole.
You may also want to register for "Alert Seminole", Seminole County's electronic notification system. Please go to https://www.alertseminole.org/index.php?CCheck=1 to sign up for the service, which will alert you via text message and/or e-mail when there are important weather alerts. |

Status of the Proposed Publix at Rangeline and SR 434 |
|
The following is an email that was sent to the City on Thursday November 20, 2008:
Mayor Sackett,
Thank you for your letter dated November 10th and email regarding the above referenced project. I forwarded both your letter and email to Publix Super Markets for review and consideration. Unfortunately, Publix’s Real Estate Committee has elected to abandon its plans to locate a store on the Fifth Third property at this time and I have been instructed to discontinue working on the project. We have notified all parties of this decision. In regard to your meeting request, although Publix appreciates the City’s willingness to meet to discuss the project, we feel a meeting is unnecessary at this time given their decision.
Thank you again for your continued interest in Publix locating to the City of Longwood and if anything should change on their part, you will be the first to know.
